Oregon coach Chip Kelly was happy to learn that the Rose Bowl hasn't been freshly re-sodded

LOS ANGELES, Calif. _ While speaking with reporters Friday, Oregon coach Chip Kelly took a swipe at the footing in last season?s BCS Championship game at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.

Oregon lost to Auburn 22-19 in a game in which loose turf caused some footing issues.

Kelly was addressing a question during Oregon?s Media Day for the upcoming Rose Bowl about what he has learned from his previous appearances in BCS games, the 2010 Rose Bowl and the 2011 BCS title game.

He made several points and then said: ?I also learned you shouldn?t re-sod a field with a week to go,? Kelly said. ?I found out that the Rose Bowl didn?t do that, so I?m excited about that aspect of things.

?I laugh about it, because both teams played on the same surface. We slipped and they slipped. But if somebody asks what have I learned from last year?s experience, it?s if you?re going to have a party at your house next week, don?t re-sod your lawn. Because, you may have some people slip and fall.?
